Mike Downen

William Michael “Mike” Downen, 70, of Evansville, Indiana formerly of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the West River Health Campus in Evansville.  He was born on February 8, 1951 in Shawneetown the son of the late William J. And Donna Lee (Patton) Downen.  Mike spent several years working at Downen Enterprises and Jader Fuel.  He also belonged to the Equality Masonic Lodge #2 and was a National Guard veteran.  Mike is survived by three daughters, Michelle Rehbein of Shawneetown, Alicia and Wade Gibbons of Elizabethtown, Abby Downen of Clay, Kentucky; his sister, Debbie and Butch Medlin of Evansville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Shane and Tyler Hall, Jacob and Will Gibbons, Kennady Reed; two great grandchildren, Kason and Kamden Hall; his niece, Ashlee and Matt McCure and great nephew Hayes McCure.  Visitation for Mike will be held on Wednesday, November 24th from 10 a.m. to service time at 12 p.m. noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with Reverend Jeff McMain officiating.  Burial will follow at the Asbury Cemetery near Omaha.
