Mildred Lorene (Thacker) Hays

Mildred Lorene Hays, 89, of Carmi, Illinois passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  She was born in Leamington on July 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Claude E. and Martha Jane (Hawley) Thacker.  Mildred married John Ely Hays on August 5, 1955.  John preceded Mildred in death on September 30, 1998.  Mildred worked at the dietary department at the Fountain View Nursing Home until her retirement.  She is survived by two sisters, Carmeta McConnell of Junction, Susan and Ron Padget of Marion, Kentucky; her only brother, Edward Thacker of Eldorado.  Mildred is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Along with her parents and husband she is also preceded in death by one sister, Claudine Awalt.  Visitation for Mildred will be held on Wednesday, October 19th from 10 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  The Reverend James R. Hubbard will officiate the service.  Burial will be at the Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.  In lieu of flowers donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Leamington Cemetery.
