Mildred I. (Jones) Simpson

September 7, 1929 — December 31, 2017

Mildred I. Simpson, 88, of Omaha, Ill., passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.  She was born in Monroe City, Ind. on September 7, 1929. Mildred was the daughter of the late, Claud E. and Jessie Lee (Wilson) Jones.  On July 7, 1945 she married Robert Lee Simpson Jr. in Petersburg, Ind.  Robert preceded Mildred in death on April 21, 2000.  She was an homemaker and a volunteer at the Ridgway Golden Circle.  Mildred was a Christian by faith and a devoted member of the Omaha General Baptist Church.  She survived by her daughter, Cheri and Alex Ciaravino of Norris City; two sons, Robert Joe Simpson of Omaha, Donald Wayne and Lisa Simpson of Harrisburg; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Kay Graham; seven siblings, John, Bessie, Edna, Earnest, Mary, Virginia, and Dorothy.  Visitation for Mildred will be on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 9 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. (noon) at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha.  The Rev. Blaine Felty will officiate.  Burial will at the Palestine II Cemetery on the outskirts of Omaha.
