Neva Jean (Padgett) Rushing

Neva Jean Rushing, 79, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare in Eldorado.  She was born in Eldorado on August 28, 1944, the only child of the late Virgil and Viola (Deal) Padgett.  Neva married the love of her life, Roy Wayne Rushing on September 25, 1965. On October 30, 2020 Wayne preceded Neva in death.  Neva was a secretary for the superintendent of Gallatin County School System for twenty-nine years until her retirement.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Samantha and Brandon Gross of Shawneetown; step grandchildren, Kailee M. and David Adamson of Earlington, Kentucky; step great grandchildren, Nemo Rettinghaus, Eliza Rettinghaus and Milo Adamson all of Earlington.  Also she is survived by three sister-in-laws, Ruby Tucker, SanDee Brown, and Kay Rushing. Neva was preceded in death by her parents; and one granddaughter, Charlijean Gross.  There will be a visitation for Neva on Wednesday, January 31st from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  Brother Michael Rushing will officiate the service with burial at Callicott Cemetery near Ridgway.  Donations in Neva’s memory may be made to the Callicott Cemetery.
