Neva Ruth (Stacey) Thompson

Neva Ruth Stacey Thompson. 89, of Harrisburg, Illinois formerly of Shawneetown, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.  Born on December 7, 1932 in Bowlesville, she was one of eleven children of the late Herman and Lela (Thompson) Stacey.  Neva married Hershel Thompson who preceded her in death.  She was a retired cook at a State Hospital.  Neva was a member of the Shawneetown Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hanover Chapter #525.  Neva is survived by two sisters, Emma Smith of Shawneetown and Helen Fuchs of Harrisburg; four brothers, James Stacey of Lincoln, Jerry Joe and Judy Stacey of Carrier Mills, Paul Stacey of Shawneetown, Donald and Gloria Stacey of Simpson; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, William Stacey; three sisters, Mildred Cremeens, Wilma K. Stacey, and Wanda Burpo.  Visitation for Neva will be held on Saturday, February 26th from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  The Reverend Roger Lyons will officiate.  Graveside service will be on Tuesday, March 1st at 1 p.m. at the Springdale Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.  In lieu of flowers donations in Neva’s memory may be made to the Shawneetown Presbyterian Church or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
