Paul David Ellis

Paul David Ellis, 90, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 14, 2024.  He was born in Shawneetown on October 30, 1934, the son of the late Walter and Emma (Leavell) Ellis.  Paul David married the former Mary Amy Grace on April 7, 1962.  He was a retired welder, gas utilities superintendent and was a veteran of the United States Army.  Paul David was a follower of Christ and was a faithful member of New Life Christian Center in Equality.  He is survived by his wife, Amy Ellis of Shawneetown; two daughters, Paula (Roger) McSwain of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and Shawnna (Tom) McCool of Newburgh, Indiana; five grandchildren, Caleb McSwain, Rachel (Ryan) Grigg, Abigail McSwain, Jordan (Naomi) McCool, and Joshua McCool; two great grandchildren, Hannah Grigg and Daniel Grigg.  Paul David was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Aaron Ellis; his four brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Ernie, and John Ellis; and one sister, Marie Sisk.  Visitation for Paul David will be held on Monday, November 18th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 19th at 1 p.m. with Reverend Leo Hall and Reverend Blake Clayton to officiate the service.  Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown with military rites by the Gallatin County Honors Team.  Donations in Paul David’s memory may be made to the New Life Christian Center.
