Phyllis Kay “ Kay” Smith, 75, of Harrisburg, Ill., formerly of Equality passed away at her home on Thursday, October 8, 2020. She was born in Equality on June 8, 1945, the daughter of the late James A. and Ida Mae (Mahan) Millspaugh. Kay married Donald Ray Smith on May 10, 1962. Don and Kay were severely injured in the February 29th, 2012 tornado and he succumbed to his injuries on March 7, 2012. She was a member of the Calvary’s Promise Church and Equality McLain -Glover Post 595 Auxiliary. Kay is survived by two daughters, Teresa and Hugh Zaranti of Harrisburg, Ida and Mark Adams of Creal Springs, one granddaughter, Hanna Kay Evans of Creal Springs; three brothers, Kenneth and Eloise Millspaugh of Equality, David Millspaugh and Frank Millspaugh both of Sneads Ferry, N.C., two sisters, Gail Reed of Sneads Ferry, N.C., Mary Reed of Deerfield, Virginia and step mother, Judy Millspaugh of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; one great grandchild, Nathan Andrew Collins of Ridgway; and also leaving behind her longtime fur baby, Sophie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Cory Ray Collins; two sisters, Marilyn Jean Millspaugh and Brenda Grisham; and Don’s fur baby, Maggie. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, October 13th at 11 a.m. at the Leavell Hill Cemetery near Junction. Reverend James R. Hubbard will be officiating. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality in charge of the services.
