Ralph David Barnes

Ralph David Barnes, 80, of Elizabethtown, Illinois, passed away at his daughter’s home on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 6:15 a.m. He was born in Shawneetown on March 17, 1942, the son of the late Floyd Allen and Charlotte Katie (Barnard) Barnes.  Ralph married the former Mary Elizabeth “Sally” Lane on October 17th of 1962.  Sadly, Sally preceded Ralph in death on 11th of November of 2020.  Ralph was a retired farmer and construction worker.  He was a member of the Equality Church of God.  Ralph is survived by his loving daughter, Sheila Brown of Karbers Ridge; two sisters, Linda Price of Karbers Ridge, Ina Frields of Raleigh; two brothers, Donnie Barnes of Cave in Rock, Bub and Peggy Winters of Karbers Ridge; four grandchildren, Jacqueline “Jackie” Brown of Godfrey, Krista Brown of Bethalto, David Brown of East Alton, Kayla and Ryan Lindley of Bethalto; two great grandchildren, Brody and Elodie Lindley.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Alma Ruth Glover; three brothers, John Henry, Floyd Jack, Harold, and Harry Barnes.  Visitation for Ralph will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd  from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  There will be a graveside service following the visitation at the Rogers Cemetery near Karbers Ridge at 4 p.m. with the Reverend Peggy Winters to officiate the service.  The Barnes family would like to thank the Lane family for their support and Hospice of Southern Illinois for their wonderful care.
