Raymond “Ray the Painter” Colbert, 87, of Equality, Illinois passed away on October 14, 2020 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. He was born on July 16, 1933 in Herod, the son of the late Bryan and Mary Ann (Carnett) Colbert. Ray married Betty Mae Rainey in August13, 1954. Betty Mae preceded Ray in death on August 21, 1990. He owned and operated Ray’s Painting until his retirement. Ray leaves behind one daughter, Lisa and Bruce Bernhard of Beecher; three sons, Eddie Colbert of Crete, Troy and DeeDee of Beecher, Steve Colbert of Equality; one brother, Norman Colbert of Cadillac, Michigan; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and special friend, Donna Beckham of Decatur. He was known as Uncle Ray to many. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Helen Flanders and Hazel Kopman; one brother, Willard Colbert. Visitation for Ray will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality. Visitation and entombment will be on Monday, October 19th from 12 to 3 p.m. at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, Illinois.
