Richard "D-Bird" Evans, 75, of Junction, passed away at his home on Sunday, March11, 2012, 4:50 p.m. He was born on January 20, 1937 in Stonefort, the son of Coy Leslie and Mary Elizabeth (Shadowens) Evans. He married Rose Mary Sharp on August 31, 1980. Richard was a retired coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Evans of Junction; seven children, Gary and Cindy Evans of Stonefort, Marcia and Wesley Clark of Paulton, Sherri and Mike Bundren of Ozark; Scott Evans of Murphysboro; Brad and Ida Evans of Creal Springs; Shannon and Brett Blackwelder of Junction; Johnny and Detria Hetterschedt of Shawneetown; one sister, Josephine and Carl Choate of New Burnside; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Leon Evans. Visitation for Richard will be Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Rev. Wayne Duke will be officiating with burial Little Saline Cemetery near Stonefort. Internet condolences may be made at the website, www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.
