Robert S. Sharp

Robert S. “Bob” Sharp, 87, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Ferrell Hospital on Eldorado.  He was born on March 5, 1935 in Livingston County,  Kentucky.  Bob was the son of James and Sadie Pearl (Gordon) Sharp.  He married the former Elsie May Belt on June 30th of 1958.  Bob was retired as the  Old Shawneetown Chief of Police and an avid fisherman who sold his catch for many years to the surrounding community.  He is survived by his wife, Elsie May Sharp of Shawneetown; four daughters, Laverne Jackson of Metropolis, Joanne Barger of Shawneetown, Wanda Sharp of Shawneetown, and Dianne Sharp of New Martinsville, West Virginia; one son, Bobby Wayne and Sherri Sharp of Shawneetown; three sisters, Isabelle Herley of Ridgway, Ruby Bolton of Indiana, Rosemary Evans of Shawneetown; one aunt, Eunice Taylor of Kentucky; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ruby Pearl Tipton; one son, Charles Wayne Sharp.  There will be a private family burial at Westwood Cemetery.  Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of arrangements.
