Roxanna Lee Lindsay, 67, of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at her home with her family by her side. Roxanna was born on February 3, 1952 in Eldorado to James Theodore Brison and Edna Laverne Chamberlain Osborne. She married Stanley Earl Lindsay on May 7, 1971 and Stanley passed away on the 14th of June, 2005. Roxanna was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Harrisburg. She is survived by one child, Stanya and John Cox of Shawneetown; one grandchild, Danielle Hish of Shawneetown; her mother, Laverne Osborne of Carrier Mills; her father, James and Geneva Brison of Tamarac, Fla.; two sisters, Sharon and Charles Merritt of Shawneetown, Verna Kay Cronin of Carrier Mills; one brother, Michael Vaughn Brison of Tamarac, Fla.; and also nieces and nephews. Roxanna was a homemaker and care giver all her beautiful life and she loved her daughter and granddaughter more than anything in the world. She was dearly loved by her family, her friends, and her congregation. She was always a positive person and always had a kind word for everyone she spoke to. One of her favorites memories is going in service the first time with her granddaughter, Danielle. And she has the fondest memories of growing up in Old Shawneetown with all of her cousins and friends. Roxanna loved being Danielle’s grandma most of all. My best memory of my sister was teaching her the truth and teaching her how to do everything. My mother was the kindest most loving person I have ever met in my life. I wish my personality was like hers. She loved Jehovah with her whole heart. Roxanna loved to sing and dance and she loved people the most. Nobody could or would have taken better care of her granddaughter, Danielle. Mama Roxanna made me feel like the smartest and most important person in the world. The funniest memory of my sister is when she called me and told me “Sharon Lynn I finally figured out how to season can goods.” Visitation for Roxanna will be held on Friday, August 9th from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Speaker Clem Clemans will officiate with burial to follow at Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
