Roy Wayne Rushing, 83, of Shawneetown, Illinois, passed from this life on Friday, October 30, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Wayne was born on June 17, 1937 to Henry Guy Rushing and Lola May Rushing Bush in a log cabin in Crayne, Kentucky. He married the former Neva Jean Padgett on September 25, 1965. Wayne was a retired coal miner and truck driver. He was also was a member of Shawneetown Lions Club and Shawneetown Gun Club. Uncle Wayne as most referred to him or Wayne, but never call him Roy Wayne. Along with his parents passing, his older brother, Bill Rushing, brother, Charlie Rushing, and recently lost brother, Kenneth Rushing preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Virgil and Viola Padgett; two brother- in-laws, Red Tucker and Tom Brown; and his granddaughter, Charli Jean Gross. Wayne leaves behind his loving family, his wife of fifty-five years, Neva Jean Rushing of Shawneetown; Samantha Jane and Brandon Gross of Shawneetown; two sisters, Ruby Tucker of Junction, SanDee Brown of Hudson, Florida; one brother, Henry and Sara Rushing of Gladewater, Texas; sister-in-law, Kay Rushing of Dongola; one step granddaughter, Kailee Rettinghaus of Earlington, Kentucky; two step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Wayne will be held on Monday, November 2nd from 10 a.m. until service time at 12 p.m. noon at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Brother Michael Rushing will officiate the service with burial at Callicott Cemetery near Ridgway. Donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Callicott Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 social distancing and masks will be required.
