Sammie Lou Green

March 24, 1930 — January 19, 2011

ROCKFORD - Bobbie Wyche, 78, formerly of Chicago, IL, journeyed home, on December 5, 2012, after battling cancer. He was born Feb. 6, 1934, in New Orleans, LA, to Cecil Wyche and Inez Cobett-Cunningham. After graduating college, Bobbie joined the United States Air Force and served in the the Korean War. He later attended the National Labor College (George Meany Center) for labor studies by the AFL-CIO established back in 1969. He worked for the United States Postal service in Chicago, advancing to become the President of the Local #306 Mail Handlers Union. Bobbie was married to Barbara Lee-El, later he married again, Phoebe. Between the unions of marriage to Barbara (deceased) and Phoebe (2nd wife), Bobbie had several children of whom he loved and cherished. He had great interests for reading and learning of all religions but his passion was living for the Islamic faith. Survived by his loving wife Phoebe Wyche, the Wyche children, Eldenor, Bobbie Jr. a.k.a. Shafeeq Rafeequllah (Nusaybah), Deanna, Stephanie (Guy), Julie, Celrita (Devery) Mellyora (Fredrick), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by son, Joel. Bobbie was laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery Rockford, Illinois on Dec. 6, 2012. Beloved Muslim husband and father. Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory Rockford Chapel, was honored to have assisted the family.
