Samuel Joseph Wallace, 88, of Carrier Mills, Illinois formerly of Omaha, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg. Born on October 29, 1932 in Omaha, he was the son of Albert H. and Veva (Blackard) Wallace. Sam was a proud Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Also, he was member of the Calvary Church in Sparta an a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3851 in Carmi. Sam loved gospel music and sung with the Prophets Quartet and many church choirs, Sam is survived by his daughter, Karen and Kenneth Placke of Wadsworth, Ohio; his son, Kelley Wallace of Marietta, Ohio; youngest daughter, Tracy and Robert Swank of Columbus, Ohio; and his youngest son, Les Wallace of Harrisburg; and last surviving sibling, Charles Wallace of California; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Ruby Lamb, Margaret Altman, Emma Lou Kerouac, Norma Lea Christenson, and Mary Ann Bosaw; three brothers, Richard, William, and James Wallace; one granddaughter, Rachel Swank. There was a private family graveside service for Sam on Friday, January 8th at 1 p.m. with his son-in-law, Robert Swank officiating the service. Burial was at Palestine II Cemetery near Omaha. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha in charge of arrangements.
