Sharon Kay “Shug” Sanders, 68, of Shawneetown, Illinois passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born on June 6, 1953 in Charleston, Missouri, the daughter of the late John Holland “Jay” and Fredia Marie (Long) Williams. Sharon married the love of her life, William Sanders on January 26th of 1979. She retired from Coleman Center after 40 years as a Rehab Specialist. Since her retirement she wrote recipes for Foodie News and spoiled her grand kids. Also, Sharon was a member of the Saline County SARC. Christian by faith she was a dual member of the Bankston Fork Baptist Church and Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Sharon is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Sanders of Shawneetown; their son, Billy and Lauren Sanders of Equality; two granddaughters, Mattie Marie and Meredith Musial Sanders; two brothers, Mike Williams of Harrisburg, Garry and Kathie Williams of St. Petersburg, Florida; one brother in law, Mark and Debby Sanders of Shawneetown; one nephew, David Lee and Jennifer Hale of Galatia; three nieces, Heather Sanders, Megan Jolly, and Jessica Sanders; three great nieces, Hayden Jolly, Emmalynn Jolly, and Taylor Hale; two great nephews, Trevor and Tristen Hale. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Gail Hale-Hill. Visitation for Sharon will be held Saturday, February 12th from 9 a.m. until memorial service time at 11 a.m. at the Bankston Fork Baptist Church near Harrisburg. The Reverend Jody Pittman will officiate the memorial service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sharon’s memory to the Diabetes Association., Heart Association., or the Bankston Fork Baptist Church. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown in charge of arrangements.
