Sherron K. Walker Shanks, 78, of Norris City, Illinois, passed away after an extended illness at her home on Sunday, September 25, 2022. She was born on January 26, 1944 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Eva (Varble) Walker. Sherron married Donald Jackson “Jack” Shanks on April 20, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Jack Shanks; her daughter, Anita Hunt and friend, Jim Harmon; her son, Nelson Scott and friend, Amy Edwards; four grandchildren, Zach Hunt, Eva Scott, Kyle Scott and fiancé Emily Stewart, Ashley Tolbert and John; five great grandchildren, Jenson, Cheyenne, Lexus, Tucker and Arlee; one step daughter, Sheila Harmon and friend, Jim Watson; one step son, Donald Shanks and Betsy; step grandchildren, Kris and Jessica Kirkpatrick, Taylor Shanks and family; one sister, Patricia Walker Martin; one brother, Mike Walker and Amy; nieces and nephews, Sheldon Mitchell and family, Stephanie Walker Utley and Stan, Daniel Walker, James Kelly Arnold and Bekki Mallory; cousins, Bill, Jim, Susan and their families. Sherron also leaves behind many lifetime friends who will miss her loving smile. Visitation for Sherron will be held on Saturday, October 1st from 11 a.m. until memorial service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Pastor Terry Hall and Reverend Leo Hall will officiate the Service. Donations in Sherron’s memory may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Turning Point Church in McLeansboro and or Cancer Research Pancreatic Cancer.
