Susan “Sue” P. Edwards, 83, resident of Omaha Ill., passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Wabash Village in Carmi. Sue was born March 7, 1935 in Eldorado to the late Bryant and Katie (Endicott) Mitchell. On August 20, 1954 she married Earl Ray Edwards, he preceded her in death November 12, 2014. Sue was a beautician, and was the Postmaster at the Omaha Post Office for 20 years. She was Baptist by faith and attended the Omaha General Baptist Church. She had a love for gardening and hummingbirds. Sue is survived by two children: Bruce (Karen) Edwards of Omaha, Lesa (Wade) Newton of Ridgway, three brothers: Robert Mitchell of Rockford, Jack (Betty Jane) Mitchell of Kentucky., Jim (Judy) Mitchell of Florida, five grandchildren: Misti (Jeff) Jackson, Katy (Chad) Naas, Jaclyn (Nick) Hunt, Kory (Racheal) Newton, Emily (Jeremy) Browning, nine great grandchildren: Lucas Jackson, Aven Scala, Brayson Naas, Claire Hunt, Caroline Hunt, Jasper Newton, Lydia, Lucas and Lexie Browning. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph Mitchell, Phillip Mitchell, two sisters: Dorothy Ward, Betty Bartok and a granddaughter, Shanna Rae Edwards. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 24th at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha with Rev. Blaine Felty officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Palestine II Cemetery near Omaha.
