Thomas Deon Dobbs

Thomas Deon Dobbs, 61, of Karbers Ridge, Ill., passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011, 1:04 p.m., at the Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare. He was born on May 16, 1950 in Shawneetown to Jesse Thomas and Velna Faye (Ozee) Dobbs. Deon was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company Mine and also an Eagle No. 2 Mine Rescue Team member. Deon is survived by his mother, Velna Faye Dobbs of Karbers Ridge; one daughter, Keely and Jack Wright of Shawneetown; two sons, Nathan Dobbs of Shawneetown and Jarred Dobbs of Alton; one brother, Dennis Dobbs of Karbers Ridge; niece, Kaydee Dobbs of Karbers Ridge; two granddaughters, Kate and Ava. He was preceded in death by his father. Deon enjoyed arrowhead hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. Visitation for Deon will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral will be at the chapel on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Leamington Cemetery near Equality.
