Thomas Lewis

Thomas “Tom” Lewis, 78, of Equality, Illinois  passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 3, 2020.  He was born in Viper, Kentucky on November 19, 1941, the son of the late Jasper Joseph and Leona Lewis.  Tom married Margie Browning on December 1, 1966.  He was a coal miner for Peabody Coal for thirty-five years.  Tom was a member of the New Life Christian Center in Equality and a mason at the Equality Masonic Lodge #2.  Survived by his loving family; his wife, Margie Lewis of Equality; his daughter, Stephanie Pyle of Harrisburg; two sons, Kevin Lewis of Norris City, Patrick and Crystal Lewis of Belle Rive; seven grandchildren, Alex and Eli Jackson, Tori and Andy McTaggart, Jake Pyle, Brooke Pyle, Gracie Pyle, Landen Lewis and Lane Lewis; ten great grandchildren.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeffrey Odis Lewis; one brother, Donald Newman; one great grandson, Jordyn Pyle.  Visitation for Tom will be held on Wednesday, August 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality.  There will be a graveside service with Masonic rites on Thursday, August 6th at 11 a.m. at the Leamington Cemetery.  Reverend Blake Clayton and Reverend Marshall Glover will be officiating the service.  Due to Covid-19, social distancing and masks will be required.
