Thomas L. "Jake" Vinson

Thomas L. “Jake” Vinson, 86, of Shawneetown, Illinois,  passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson, Kentucky.  He was born on January 31, 1933 near Mattoon, Kentucky, the son of the late Olvie James and Lena (McKinley) Vinson.  Jake married the former Connie S. Roark on the 14th of April, 1973.  He was a retired coal mine chief electrician and attended the Pisgah General Baptist Church. Jake is survived by his loving wife, Connie Vinson of Shawneetown; two sons, Terry and Jerri Vinson of Henderson, Tom and Lori Vinson of Morganfield, Kentucky; one daughter in law, Treva Vinson of Evansville, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Mitchell, Crew, Kyle, Tyler, Justin, Taylor, and Trey; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gordon T. Vinson and one sister, Evalyn Carter.  Visitation for Jake will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 11 a.m. until memorial service time at 1 p.m. at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown.  Reverend Steven Hunt will be officiating the service.
