Virgie Marie Barnett, 103, of Junction, Ill., passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Eldorado Rehab and Healthcare in Eldorado. She was born near Sparks Hill, Ill. on May 12, 1916, the daughter of the late William and Sarah (Porter) Leonberger. Virgie married Roland Barnett on July 8, 1935. Roland preceded Virgie in death on October 22, 2001. She was a faithful member in Christ at the Leamington Community Church. Virgie is survived by her loving family, four daughters, Wanda and Pat Melton of Japan, Velta and Robert Angier of Dixon, Verna and Bill Franklin of Springfield, Guenda and Jim Greer of Murphysboro; two sons, Delbert and Annette Barnett of Junction, Derrel and Andrea Barnett of Elm City. N.C. She leaves a blessed legacy of over one hundred twenty-five grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Virgie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Audra Matthews and Jessie Faye Collins; three sisters, Gusta Barnett, Lena Nelson, Leta Mae Maynard; five brothers, George, Warren, James Fred, Epps, and William Leonberger. Visitation for Virgie will be held on Tuesday, October 15th from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the Leamington Community Church. The Rev. Lee Fricker will be officiating with burial at Leamington Cemetery. Donations in Virgie’s memory may be made to the Leamington Community Church.
