William J. Millikan

William Joseph “Bill” Millikan, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Shawneetown, Illinois, on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Bill was born in Equality, Illinois on December 17, 1933, the son of Loren “Eck” Eschol and Mattie (Dutton) Millikan. He married Donna Jean Cox on January 6, 1955 and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2022. They enjoyed sixty-eight years of marriage. Bill worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for over 20 years; and he was the owner of Millikan GMC and Millikan Auto Parts businesses in Shawneetown. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Bill served his country in the US Army and he enjoyed hunting and loved racing. He raced dirt track cars for over 35 years.

Left to mourn his passing are his son Billy Millikan (Jessica Pennington) of Shawneetown; sister, Vivian Millikan of Shawneetown; brother, Bob Millikan of Lafayette, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife and his brother and sister-in-law Loren Ray and Roberta Millikan.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 23, 2022 at Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown; Pastor Jack Hall will officiate.
