William "Bill" R. Howard

William R. "Bill" Howard, 92, resident of Junction passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at his residence.

Bill was born January 11, 1931 in Junction to the late Herman, Sr. and Josephine (Kinder) Howard. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked as a heavy equipment owner/operator, sawmill owner/operator, and farmer.

He is survived by two children: Pamela (David) Rider of Aransas Pass, Texas and Tim (Tracy) Howard of Junction, four siblings: Rebecca Ann Redeman of Fountain Hills, AZ, Mary Jane (Henry) Gross of Marion, IL, Dave (Joann) Howard of Dayton, OH, and Jerry (Helen) Howard of Junction, IL, three grandchildren: Justin Rider of Aransas Pass, Texas; Samuel Howard of Junction and Sophie Howard of Junction.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Krikie, Ellen Kay Bosaw and five brothers: Herman Howard, Jr., Conrad L. Howard, Jack E. Howard, James K. "Jim" Howard, and Daniel J. Howard.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown with Pastor Scott Luckett officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
